Jazz flutist Herb Kloss could have followed in his sister Sherry’s footsteps and become a classical virtuoso. Instead, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane and Hubert Laws became his heroes. Herb performed with Glenn Moore of Oregon as well as pianist Art Lande. He then spent time on the New York scene playing and recording with Dan Krimm and Jack DeSalvo. His wanderlust then took him to Anchorage, Alaska where he was active in the Indian music community. He settled in Seattle and has recorded with guitarist Vance Koenig, was part of the 2011 Foodline Benefit recording and played on John Damberg’s Angie’s Samba CD. Herb’s Far From Home on foUR features some of the top jazz players in the Seattle area.
